WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
Gender issues play an extremely significant role in the lives of Nepali women and the children who depend on them. Women in Nepal very often find discrimination against their gender. Women are perceived to belong to a lower status meaning that most of them are not given sufficient decision-making power to control their own access to resources such as information, services, money, property, etc. This restricted access to resources prevents women from developing their decision-making capacity and independence. Moreover, they are often subject to discriminative activities such as domestic violence, trafficking and sexual abuses and unemployment. Many of Nepal's laws discriminate against women on issues such as property, marriage and family, legal and court proceedings, education, nationality and citizenship.
