1.
Gainful Employment Opportunity for Young Women at Risk of Trafficking and Trafficking Survivors
   
This project is being implemented with the financial assistance from The Asia Foundation to make the 250 young women from risk of conflict, domestic violence, poverty and trafficking to be self-dependent from which the risk of trafficking will be assisted to reduce.
 
Objectives

Assist to reduce the risk of trafficking of young girls

Provide the employment and life skills opportunity to the young girl from which they can be self reliant

Help the young girls at risk of trafficking and trafficking survivors to enhance their capacity to manage their livelihood competitively
 
Activities
Employment oriented skill training
Basic literacy classes
Life skills training (HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, trafficking, Human Rights, violation of rights and legal treatment, family planning, nutrition, business entrepreneurship etc.)
Job placement of the trained girls
Follow up of the projects
   
Duration
The duration of the project is Two year (November 2005 to September 2007)
 
Working Areas
The project station is Kathmandu. The trainees are selected from more than 25 districts of the kingdom of Nepal with the coordination and collaboration of Women Development Office in each district and other like minded organizations.
   
Partners
The Asia Foundation is the funding partner of this programme. In relation to the training, life skills and job placement SAHARA has been working with various training providers (Rose Nepal, Kathmandu Hotel Management College, Manakamana Driving Center, Rama Handicraft, Kantipur Photography, Himalayan Healers, Moon Drops and Rhino Security Services etc.), Hotel Association Nepal and other organizations.
 
2.
Children's Voice
   
This project is being implemented with the financial assistance of Save the Children Norway, Nepal to ensure the children's rights in education through 100 Child Clubs in Syangja District.
 
Objectives

Aware children on Child Rights

Capacity enhancement of the Child Clubs, and other stakeholders.

Advocate against the child rights violation i.e. discrimination based on gender, caste and economy.
Cooperate and coordinate with district level stakeholders to strengthen the Child Clubs and related networks

Duration
The duration of the project is four years (2003 to 2007)
 
Working Areas
The project is being implemented in some of the VDCs of Syangja District. The project covers the total of 12 VDCs (Faparthum, Setidovan, Chilaunebas, Bangefadke, Vangsingh, Bichari Chautara, Bhatkhola, Arukharka, Phedikhola, Oraste, Pawaigaunde, Thuladihi) and 2 municipalities (Putali Bazar and Waling) in the district.
   
Partners
Save the Children Norway, Nepal is the funding partner of this programme. In relation to the implementation of the project in Syangja, District Education Office, District Child Welfare Board and other government and non-government organizations are taken as the partners of this project.

Follow up of Reintegrated Children
   
This project is being implemented with the financial assistance of Save the Children Norway, Nepal to ensure the education and livelihoods of reintegrated children in different districts.
 
Objectives

Assist the family of reintegrated children to manage their livelihood and child education and health

Follow up of the reintegrated children and their family

 

Activities
House visit
Financial assistance for income generating activities
Stationeries support to the reintegrated children
Follow up of the activities
   
Duration
The duration of the project is three years (2005 to 2007)
 
Working Areas
The project area includes different districts of Central, Western, Mid Western and Far Western Nepal namely Sindhupalchok, Syangja, Banke, Bardiya, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Dang, Dolpa, Humla, Surkhet, Kailali and Doti. Children from these districts have been reintegrated with their family and the follow up programme is still going to ensure the effectiveness of the programme.

4.
SAHARA Children's Home in Pokhara
   
SAHARA Group had operated a total of two children's home Nepalgunj and Syangja for two years. Due to the conflicting situation, the centers were impossible to run in the mentioned station. Later the center established for conflict affected children of Nepalgunj were shifted to Kathmandu and the center established for destitute and orphan children was shifted to Pokhara. Now the organization is running two centers i.e. one in Kathmandu and one in Pokhara respectively. A total of 30 orphan and destitute children are residing in the Pokhara centers. These children's homes are being operated with the financial assistance from the group of Australian donors, individuals, and corporate houses.
 
Objectives

Provide transitional shelter for needy children before reintegration.

Provide residential support to total orphan children

Ensure their basic education, health and other needs while residing at the center.
Make those children capable to earn their livelihood through academic education and vocational training.
Psychosocial counseling to the traumatized children.

 

Activities
Run the center.
Create the environment where child friendly environment is ensured.
Create the educational and vocational skill development opportunity for the children
Looking for the foster parents for the destitute children having no parents to take care.
Tracing the family to reintegrate those children and negotiate with their community and close relatives.
   
Duration
Child support programme is long-term programme. This support system was started in 2001.
 
Working Areas
The center of Kathmandu was shifted from Nepalgunj and the center of Pokhara is shifted from Syangja. The orphan children come to the center from various parts of the country.
   
Partners
Save the Children Norway, various individuals, groups of national and international arena, business and corporate houses and others.
 
5.
Women's Legal Rights Promotion Programme
   
This project is being implemented with the financial assistance of Apeiron Nepal to ensure the legal rights of women sufferer from domestic violence and social discrimination of the society.
 
Objectives

Assist the women to get their citizenship certificate

Facilitate the women to ensure their legal rights on property

Provide them the vocational and life skill building opportunity to be self-reliant.

 

Activities
Advocacy
Coordination with district level service providers such as District Administration Office, Women Development Office etc.
Create the educational and vocational skill development opportunity for the children
Coordination with VDC level service providers such as Village Development Committee, CBOs etc.
Advocate at national policy level stakeholders.
Facilitation to the procedures of legal activities to get citizenship and property rights.
   
Duration
The duration of the project is one and half years (March 2006 to September 2007)
 
Working Areas
The project area is throughout the country especially to those districts where the women have no citizenship certificates and also the most conflict affected districts of the country.
   
Partners
Apeiron Nepal is the funding partner of this programme. Besides, Women Development Office, District Administration Office, Village Development Committees, Community Based Organizations and others.
