Friends of SAHARA

 

Friends of SAHARA is a SAHARA support system established to coincide with the establishment of SAHARA in 1997. Friends of SAHARA is its core institutional unit, society of conglomeration of kind hearted and generous individuals and institutions, who contribute to the activities of SAHARA Group. The programme aims at conglomerating the efforts of all individuals or groups interested in joining or supporting SAHARA and its activities, voluntarily. It also provides a forum for the sharing and exchanging ideas, experiences and concern among the people concerned with the issues of Child Rights; and among those dedicated for the welfare of helpless and destitute children. Many individuals and groups within Nepal and abroad have contributed a considerable support in cash and kind to sustain and expand the activities of SAHARA Group.

 

Objectives of Friends of SAHARA

 

The programme aims at snow-bawling the efforts of all individuals or groups interested in joining or supporting SAHARA and its child focused activities, voluntarily:

  • Acquire national and international efforts for the improvement of life of children at risk;
  • Strengthen relationship among the like-minded organizations or individuals at national, regional and international level to promote child rights situation;
  • Seek assistance and support for the sustainability and expansion of child welfare programmes;
  • Encourage people across the world to contribute for the cause of children at distress.

 

Who can contribute through Friends of SAHARA?

 

The Friends of SAHARA membership will be awarded to groups and individuals within the country and abroad who make significant contribution to the activities of SAHARA.

 

How can one contribute through Friends of SAHARA?

 

One can contribute with cash and kind as mentioned in the following points:

  • Advocacy for the Rights of the Child as well as SAHARA's activities;
  • Fund Raising;
  • Material Support to SAHARA,
  • Contribution for SAHARA publications;
  • Networking;
  • Information collection and dissemination;
  • Exchange of visit among the like-minded organizations;
  • Voluntary service (work) for SAHARA
  • Construction of Children's Homes;
  • Construction of one or more rooms/facilities in Children's Homes;
  • Contributions in SAHARA Children's Emergency Fund;
  • Furniture and Fixtures;
  • Vehicles;
  • Establishment of Counseling Centers;
  • Sponsorship for children
  • Sponsor a specific child;
  • Bear educational expenses of children;
  • Donate a gift;
  • Give Group donation
  • Sponsor a Project;
  • Coordinate and form 'donation making groups';

How to get the membership of Friends of SAHARA?

 

Individuals or organizations that contribute to SAHARA and its activities in any form will automatically acquire the membership of roster, without fulfilling any formalities. The membership is open to all individuals and organizations those are able and willing to contribute, though little, for the welfare of children and child rights.  For the acquisition of Friends of SAHARA" membership, the interested individuals/organizations need to fill out the information mentioned in the Application Form attached herewith, send it to SAHARA Group office via email, fax or mail. After hearing from you, enlisting your name to Friends of SAHARA roster, we will write you back. It is the beginning of the friendship between you and SAHARA. Following the acknowledgement any applicant will be the eligible member of Friends roster.
