- Women Empowerment through Micro-Enterprises

| Overview: |
The Women Empowerment through Micro-Enterprises project aims at supporting Nepali women who have suffered from violence and discrimination, who experience strong economic drawbacks and who live in disadvantaged rural communities. This project aims at providing them with new job opportunities through the creation and development of micro-enterprises. It would contribute to their empowerment and improve their socio-economic conditions. The project will last 24 months and will be divided into 6 main stages: preparatory phase, welfare-emergency phase, training phase, enterprise-starts up phase, analysis of the judicial forms and economic sectors phase and informal groups institutionalizing phase. |
| Objectives: |
Improve livelihood, basic standards of living and social status of the Nepali women who suffer from strong social and economic discomfort, violence and discrimination.
Specific objectives:
- Help women who suffer from violence and discrimination by providing them with shelter, rehabilitation courses and training programs through Casa Nepal, in order to reinsert them in their original communities.
- Promote training activities in order to develop women's knowledge and skills and to strengthen their entrepreneurial abilities in order to improve their incomes.
- Facilitate the start up of micro-enterprises activities to improve the social and economic status of the women who suffer from violence and who belong to marginalized groups and casts.
- Identify the most suitable corporate legal form to institutionalize the micro-enterprises activities and the best standard procedures for managing micro-enterprises.
- Lead the beneficiaries, conveniently trained, towards self-livelihood, independency and autonomy. This goal can be reached through the creation of cooperatives that will provide additional income generation with training.
