2007 AD – ongoing |
| Overview: |
The Kumari Project aims at providing Dalit Girls with a shelter and relevant education. The Dalits are members of oppressed Hindu class; they are regarded as below the four divisions within the traditional Hindu caste system. SAHARA Group, which one of the primaries missions is to protect child rights, has then envisioned the Kumari project in order to improve the living conditions of those Dalit girls and reduce the violation of their rights. This program implemented in collaboration with Clown One Italia ONLUS – a non for profit organization providing humanitarian aid and social assistance through clowns performance - will provide those girls with shelter, food, education and basic medication, among others (for further information see the section 'activities'). Whereas Clown One Italia ONLUS is responsible for the monetary support of the program, SAHARA group is responsible for its implementation. |
