COMPLETED PROJECTS
- Improving Health Standard through Community Participation in Five VDCs (what does that mean?)
| Period: |
(1 year long project) |
| Overview: |
Health related issues in Nepal are mostly found in the rural areas of the country. Basic health indicators such as life expectancy, child and maternal mortality often face critical averages. Moreover, poor nutrition and limited food supply highly increases the potential of health risks.
Although public and private efforts have been made to improve the status of health in Nepal, much remains to be done. Thus, the program emerged as a small initiative towards health standard improvements and an acknowledgement that health is one of the key components of human rights.
The program, managed by SAHARA Group, aimed at completing the already existing health care efforts and facilities while emphasizing on a greater community participation and community capacity building. The targeted groups were rural people, with an emphasis on women and children.
