- Gainful Employment Opportunity for Young Women at Risk of Trafficking and Trafficking Survivors

| Overview: |
The project 'Gainful Employment Opportunity for Young Women at Risk of Trafficking and Trafficking Survivors' was established in 2005. Its aim was to give vocational and life skill trainings to over 152 young girls, displaced due to armed conflicts or victims of trafficking, domestic violence and poverty. Around 8 areas of training were identified: security guard, care giving, candle and incense manufacture, printing press, doll manufacture, house keeping/cooking/food and beverage services, foot therapy and finally computer services. The girls were able to choose their training area according to their own interests and preferences.
The project was conducted in two phases:
1) November 2005 - October 2006 and
2) November 2006 - September 2007.

- Provide young women at risk of trafficking and trafficking survivors with employment-oriented skills and arrange jobs

- Orientation to selected women (trainees)
- Life skills and basic literacy classes
- Linkages coordination with job provider institutions and similar organizations
- Counseling to trainees
- Job placement and accommodation services for placed trainees
- Sensitization workshops
- Promotion and participation in cultural activities ie. Participation in Teej Festival and Anti Human Trafficking Day Celebration
- Legal support to trainees
- Program monitoring

| Achievements: |
SAHARA Group's team successfully finalized those training programs.
By the time of training completion, more than 90% of the participant trainees were successfully placed in jobs within their respective training areas.
