SAHARA Children's Home

   

SAHARA Group had operated a total of two children's home Nepalgunj and Syangja for two years. Due to the conflicting situation, the centers were impossible to run in the mentioned station. Later the center established for conflict affected children of Nepalgunj were shifted to Kathmandu and the center established for destitute and orphan children was shifted to Pokhara. Now the organization is running two centers i.e. one in Kathmandu and one in Pokhara respectively. These children's homes are being operated with the financial assistance from the group of Australian donors, individuals, and corporate houses.

 
Objectives

Provide transitional shelter for needy children before reintegration.

Provide residential support to total orphan children

Ensure their basic education, health and other needs while residing at the center.
Make those children capable to earn their livelihood through academic education and vocational training.
Psychosocial counseling to the traumatized children.

 

Activities
Run the center.
Create the environment where child friendly environment is ensured.
Create the educational and vocational skill development opportunity for the children
Looking for the foster parents for the destitute children having no parents to take care.
Tracing the family to reintegrate those children and negotiate with their community and close relatives.
   
Duration
Child support programme is long-term programme. This support system was started in 2001.
 
Working Areas

The center of Kathmandu was shifted from Nepalgunj and the center of Pokhara is shifted from Syangja. The orphan children come to the center from various parts of the country.
